Construction crews opened up a 40-foot sinkhole at Austin Peay State University's stadium (Photos)

This is something you definitely don’t see every day.
Construction crews were doing some work on Governors Stadium at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn. when a small 3 feet by 5 feet sinkhole opened up into a hole that is 40-feet deep.
These pictures are unbelievable.
According to the Clarksville Leaf Chronicle, the hole, which extends into the north end zone of the stadium, was discovered “nearly a month ago” where the field meets the track. The stadium, which opened in 1946, is also home to APSU’s women’s track and field program.

Mike Jenkins, superintendent for Bell & Associates Construction in Nashville, told the Chronicle that the hole will have to be filled with several different layers and types of rock. It will then be “topped off by two feet of subgrade asphalt beneath the track and turf.”
Jenkins said the process of filling the hole should be completed by week’s end, and then new surfaces will be laid in June.
The stadium was already undergoing other renovations to the west side stands and is still expected to be ready for the team’s opener against Chattanooga on Sept. 13
